Several Nature Trails are now complete at Red Cloud Ranch, almost 3 miles altogether. One, the Hike to the Ridge, is a one mile loop to our lookout. One takes you along the year-round stream, to talk about riparian zones, and the others are meandering loops on the rolling hills. All the trails are chock full of interpretive signs about the local birds, native shrubs, berries, trees, lichen, geology, mountain peaks, wildlife habitat and other lore including lightning strikes and animal tracks. There is even a stopping point for possible eagle sightings.

Log benches and tables along the trails are great for rests or snack time, or for lingering as the sun goes down. Our first guests onto the trails enjoyed the exercise as well as the scenery. We loved how one energetic friend used the Ridge trail as a training loop for his competitive running.

Many of the signs are geared to the youngest of hikers, and we have found through the last few years how many families are now enjoying introducing their “city kids” to the natural world.

We have created numerous "forest creatures" from forest floor findings, and these guys are situated in surprise places along the trails.
